Sometimes music theory is a bit overwhelming when starting any instrument thats why learning hands on from a teacher in person is the best way to get started. Learn how to put strings on, make sure you know how to tune your guitar, know the basic chords/scales, know how to read guitar tablature aka (tabs), but I also recommend learning a song right off the bat to get that muscle memory started then learn theory little by little that way you can start playing a song which makes it fun right from the beginning and so that way it won't feel so much like "homework".
