JOB SUMMARY:
This position will perform a variety of tasks, applying management skills and their abilities to ensure a productive flow of merchandise sold at our thrift store. This position requires leadership skills and will represent our company, Valley Charities, and themselves as a positive manner to customers and as a role model to staff.
The Thrift Store Manager will coordinate with our main Thrift Store, located on Yenlo in downtown Wasilla and will be under the direct supervision of the Executive Director.
TRAINING MINIMUM/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
· High School or GED Graduate required.
· College Degree or additional trainings are valued.
· Relevant retail work experience required with progressive management responsibilities
· Basic computer skills, email (Outlook and Calendar, scheduling), Word, Excel
· POS experience required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Solid work history demonstrating productivity and reliability.
· Must possess the ability to work well with a variety of customers and staff.
· Must Be able to work independently and efficiently in all areas of store operations.
· Must have a minimum of two years as retail manager or supervisor
· Must have the ability to advise and delegate for a minimum of five staff or volunteers.
· Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
· The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a period of time
· Must have a valid Alaska driver’s license and clean driving record.
· Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· The ability to use technology. Prior experience with cash registers, making change
· Experience balancing cash drawers, reconcile daily sales
· Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Work environment may have moderate to high activity and moderate stress
· Thrift Store Manager may find themselves pulled in several directions at one time, requiring setting priorities
· Work environment may require being on foot for up to 8 hours per day.
· Work environment requires bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling.
· Work environment will require outside work as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Typical work activities will vary but may include:
· Provide excellent customer service.
· Ensure that daily business operations run smoothly.
· Acting as a link between senior management, staff & volunteers in order to achieve a common objective.
· Supervising the daily work and delegating responsibilities.
· Interacts with others in an accepting and respectful manner, remain positive and respectful even in difficult situations, Projects a positive, compassionate image at all times
· Provide training for staff and volunteers. Coaches, develops, and inspires staff members
· Actively pricing and arranging merchandise for display within the designated areas.
· Performing all duties and responsibilities of a cashier.
· Actively working a productive merchandise rotation from backroom shelves.
· Graciously accepting incoming donations; prepare and give tax receipt per request.
· Able to cope with change and ability to shift direction when needed
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with good listening skills.
· Develop an exceptional familiarity with Valley Charities Inc, turn-A-leaf and our place in the community
· Acts as an Ambassador for Valley Charities Inc.
