ABOUT THE ROLE
R Squared Contracting is a women-owned Alaska general contractor. We build commercial projects, renovations, and tenant improvements, and we manage construction on government and private jobs. We believe strong projects start with strong management, and we need a field leader who feels the same way.
You'll run the crew, swing a hammer, and keep the job safe, clean, and on schedule. If you take pride in quality work and like being the person who plans the day and makes it happen, we want to talk to you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead the crew
■ Lead field crews on commercial construction projects.
■ Train and mentor apprentice carpenters.
■ Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
Build
■ Perform skilled carpentry: framing, rough and finish carpentry, doors, hardware, and general construction.
■ Handle materials and operate equipment: truck, equipment and tool trailers, telehandler, skid steer, man lift, and more.
Plan and coordinate
■ Plan daily and weekly work with the Superintendent and/or Project Manager.
■ Read drawings and specs, and propose solutions when design issues come up.
■ Keep the schedule moving. Set the sequence of work for crews and subcontractors.
■ Coordinate subcontractors and deliveries.
Keep it right
■ Perform quality control inspections and keep job sites clean and organized.
■ Keep project records up to date: computer, email, and photos.
WHAT YOU BRING
■ 10+ years of commercial construction experience.
■ Proven ability to run crews and manage many parts of a project at once.
■ Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
■ Confident reading blueprints and project specifications.
■ Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated. Able to work independently.
■ Basic computer skills for email, photos, and project records.
■ Valid Alaska driver's license.
