Normally, it would just be an oddity we might observe, then dismiss. But it goes deeper than that, doesn't it? For those of us like me, old enough to have lived through it, we know the danger when a cult of fear, hatred and suspicion arises even in a great nation like ours. We remember the monstrous things our own government engaged in when three homosexuals; J. Edgar Hoover, FBI Director, and lovers Roy Cohn and (R) Senator Joseph McCarthy went on a vengeful tirade to seek out and eliminate communism in America. You can research for yourself the hellish, monstrous events that occurred, it is well documented. If you are too lazy and/or inept to do the research, watch the movie Fellow Travelers.
And the irony is communism, Marxism or socialism have never been a threat in our great nation. It was groups like Hover-Cohen-McCarthy that destroyed good, honest, hardworking, tax paying, patriotic American citizens.
