Hello neighbors!
I’m a mature, active, compassionate caregiver and current D.C. substitute teacher offering childcare for families who want someone who will genuinely engage with their children, not simply supervise them from the sofa. The TV and I can survive without each other. 🙂
I have 22 years of childcare experience, including two years working with special needs children in the school system, from Pre-K3 through second grade. I especially welcome families with autistic and other special needs children.
My approach is hands-on, patient, and encouraging. I listen to children, play with them, read with them, engage them in learning, and help them build independence and confidence. With special needs children in particular, I believe in meeting them where they are while gently stretching them toward what they can become. Every child deserves to feel heard, respected, safe, and capable. I'm big on hugs if your little one is comfortable with them!
A few important details:
• $30+/hour with a 4-hour minimum
• Available on school holidays, days off, and some weekends
• Childcare only — no housekeeping
• No driving or transportation of children
• Based in 20003, about one block from Potomac Avenue Metro Station
• Prefer Metro-accessible families/locations
• Verifiable references available
• Background checks are encouraged and welcomed. For everyone's safety, I also screen prospective families.
I take caring for someone’s child very seriously, so I’m looking for families who take finding the right caregiver equally seriously.
