About the Role of Petition Circulator
Looking for a good side hustle? This is your gig. Multiple campaigns are contracting motivated, outgoing Petition Circulators to help qualify multiple ballot initiatives for the November general election ballot. This is 1099 independent contractor work, where you are paid per valid voter signature, not by the hour. High performers, who work good locations, maintain strong validity, and carry multiple clipboards can build very competitive weekly earnings. You can choose the number of hours you work per week, your uniform, and have one weekly deliverable: completed petitions signed by DC voters.

All pay is based on valid voter signatures, where the DC voter's name and address on the voter roll match the name & address the DC voter writes on your petition. Signatures from voters who are not registered to vote at the address on the petition are not considered valid. One 90 minute training on Zoom is required for legal & compliance purposes.

GED or higher preferred but a diploma is not required. Resumes are not accepted nor required. If you live outside of the Washington, DC (such as Maryland or Virginia), you will be required to register with the DC Board of Elections as a "Non-Resident Petition Circulator" before being issued petitions.

Contracting Timeline
Complete the Google Form below and sign up for a training. After completing the training, you will be invited to schedule an appointment to sign your contract and pick up your petitions. Turn in your petitions on Monday and receive your payment the following Monday, and every Monday thereafter until the middle of November. You may end the contract at any time.

• How many hours you work
• The locations you choose
• How effectively you engage voters
• How clean, complete, and accurate your signatures are
• Your attention to detail
• The number of ballot initiatives you are circulating petitions for
• The total number of valid signatures you submit

Who Thrives in This Gig? You will do especially well if you have experience with:
• Circulating petitions for previous campaigns or canvassing (indoor or outdoor)
• Promotion or brand ambassador work
• Door-to-door sales or street fundraising
• Event tabling, festivals, farmers markets, or other in-person outreach
• You are naturally outgoing, talkative, and self-motivated

Petition Circulator Core Responsibilities:
• Approach voters in high-traffic areas
• Give a quick, clear explanation of each petition you are carrying
• Confirm signers are registered DC voters
• Make sure all fields on the petition are filled out cleanly, completely, and legibly
• Handle petitions with care and follow all rules and election laws
