This is a vintage Canadian Forces Force Mobile Command Dress Uniform Badge. It’s stamped on back with “Balfour”. This pin or badge was worn on my dress uniform when I served in the Army at CFB Lahr Germany.
Historical Context: Following the 1968 unification of the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Navy, and Royal Canadian Air Force into a singular service structure, the field forces of the army were organized under Mobile Command. This entity was tasked with maintaining and deploying Canada's tactical land assets and rapid-reaction units until the military began transitioning back to its traditional environmental names in the late 1990s.
Design Elements: The design utilizes highly deliberate geometric imagery to symbolize its military operational scope:
• The Red Maple Leaf: Centered prominently to represent the Dominion of Canada.
• The Four Multi-Tiered Arrows: Extending outward in a compass layout (North, South, East, West) from behind the maple leaf, symbolizing global deployment capabilities, tactical mobility, and all-direction operational readiness.
• Color Palette: Features standard white, red, and blue accents enclosed within a diamond-shaped (lozenge) perimeter border.
Condition: Used, Slightly worn on edges.
