Forward facing rowing system from Gig Harbor Boat Works for sale:
Used forward facing rowing system for sale. Allows you to use traditional rowing motion (sliding or fixed seat) while facing forward. No more looking over your shoulder!
This system came installed on my 16.5' Melonseed that I bought a year ago. I really like it and prefer it for controlling the boat and enjoying the view. Unfortunately, I bought my boat to compete in Seventy48 and other long distance events, and I can't make quite as much speed/distance as I do with one-piece oars facing the, stern. The difference is in 10ths of mph or meters per stroke, but when you multiply it out over 70 miles, it makes a measurable difference. It will not be noticeable to anyone not using GPS tracking for their row.
I've modified this setup by adding longer top halfs to allow hands to overlap (the brackets are ~61" apart on my gunwales). I also modified a second set of lowers to give more outboard. I'm selling with both sets of outboard oars. Original sections are 78" long, and mounted with fixed positioning by 2 bolts. New, longer sections are 84" long and are attached with heavy duty clamps that allow adjustment in length and blade pitch to tune in just the, right gearing for your boat.
Oars have some minor scuffs in finish, all hardware and brackets are in good shape, fit tightly, operate smoothly with no binding.
Sells new for $4695, I'm offering for $1700.
