High School (K-Grade 12) Tutor
Available for Online Tutoring
Hi there,
My name is Olivia, the IB tutor. I am grateful to have found my true passion early on in life: empowering young students, amongst others, through tutoring. I love helping my students understand a little better each day and watch their confidence in themselves grow. I do that by fostering an environment where students feel safe to try new things, make mistakes and ultimately learn and excel.
Students typically seek help in catching up with class materials, improving grades, and taking up new challenges by going above and beyond what students learnt in school. Ample study materials, including personalized sample tests, worksheets, and assignments will be provided.
A little bit about myself:
I am a UBC Science Alumni, specializing in Chemistry, Life Sciences and Statistics. In addition, I graduated from the IB Diploma program with a total of 39 points. To date, I have been tutoring and helping my students for more than eight years.
Being an alumni of the IB program, I have been in your shoes. I am well-versed in the program and have had ample experience in mentoring students in achieving the very best version of themselves.
For me, being able to witness a student's willingness to make mistakes and be vulnerable, is a privilege.
I believe that attaining knowledge is great, but increasing students' self-confidence along with encouraging students to try, are equally as important.
Students do not have to struggle with school anymore.
I've taught students from many schools and curriculum, amongst others:
- Stratford Hall, Vancouver
- Little Flower Academy, Vancouver
- Lord Byng Secondary, Vancouver
- St. John's School, Vancouver
- Sir Winston Churchill, Vancouver
- Templeton Secondary, Vancouver
- Windermere Secondary, Vancouver
- Collingwood School, West Vancouver
- Semiahmoo Secondary, Surrey
- Burnaby Central Secondary, Burnaby
- Westwood Secondary, Coquitlam
- Heritage Wood Secondary, Coquitlam
The subjects that I teach include:
- MATH (Grade 1 to Grade 12, IB Studies, IB SL)
- CHEM (Grade 11, Grade 12, IB SL, IB HL)
- BIO (Grade 11, Grade 12, IB SL, IB HL)
- SCIENCE (Grade 1 to Grade 10)
I am currently offering private One-on-one and group Online Tutoring through Zoom.
More and more students are interested in Online Tutoring, as it can be done anytime, anywhere and very efficiently, without the need to travel to/from the tutoring location. All you need is a computer and a reliable internet connection. We will be using an online whiteboard (Bitpaper) for online tutoring. Students and tutor can upload images and/or files onto the board and an audio or video call (Zoom) will be used. It's very simple, interactive and easy!
