Audition Academy replaces audition guesswork with a practical preparation, performance, redirect, and reflection processes. Participants in this weekly class will learn how to select and organize age-appropriate material, create effective song cuts, prepare monologues and sides, communicate clearly in the room, work with readers and accompanists, recover from mistakes, and make fast but specific acting choices.
Supportive mock 'calls' will give participants repeated opportunities to practice slates, cold reads, callbacks, group and harmony calls, and responding to direction without abandoning their preparation. The program will also include a mock movie-musical self-tape unit in which individuals prepare a short scene-and-song package, receive camera and musical-theatre coaching, apply a redirect, and create a revised submission.
Participants will leave with prepared audition material, a starter repertoire system, a resume draft, a reusable preparation checklist, and individualized next steps. The program will culminate in a supportive mock general audition and callback rather than a competitive casting process. 8-week process is curated by and overseen by working musical theatre professional, and voice/piano teacher Paula Higgins!
