A great gift for STUDENTS OF ALL AGES and ALL FIELDS ON INQUIRY:
Restored and in working condition with functioning on/off toggles, new retro wire, socket and plug. The plastic is in excellent condition, it is molded and shows a mottle finish in a camel hair color under full day light and a tan-gray in low light.
Holds one standard sized bulb - the stamp on the light says not to exceed 25 watts, but all the electric has been updated so I do think you could use higher.
This is not the type of lamp I normally feature in my shop, but I do love this early Modern, early early mottled plastic student lamp and I adore the little spinning globe. There's even a place to hold paper clips and pens on the molded plastic. Even though, this was most likely intended for a kid, I know quite a few fully grown Early Modern Fanatics out there who would fully enjoy this lamp.
If I were a student of history with more time, I would be researching the years these political borders (shown on the globe) were a reality and thus I would be able to date this lamp. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) takes of a vast amount of land on our little tin globe. When it collapsed in 1991, the USSR broke into 14 countries. The Belgium Congo declared independence from its Colonial rule and in 1964 became The Democratic Republic of the Congo...The Belgium Congo is marked on this globe so the lamp must be older than 1964...As so it goes...
