Huller Associate
Join our dynamic team at Montpelier Hulling & Shelling as a Hulling Associate! We are seeking a dependable and energetic individual to become a vital part of our almond processing operation. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for efficiently hulling and shelling almonds, ensuring high-quality output while maintaining a safe, organized work environment. This position offers an engaging opportunity to develop technical skills in food manufacturing while supporting a fast-paced production process during the peak harvest season.
Key Responsibilities
Operate hulling and shelling machinery safely and efficiently according to production schedules.
Inspect raw materials and finished products for quality, ensuring only premium nuts proceed through the process.
Load raw materials into processing equipment and handle the removal, sorting, and packaging of finished products.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, tools, and bins to meet strict hygiene and safety standards.
Monitor equipment performance, identify malfunctions promptly, and report maintenance needs to supervisors.
Accurately document production data, including batch numbers, processing times, and inventory counts.
Follow all food safety protocols and workplace safety guidelines, including the consistent use of protective gear.
Qualifications and Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety standards.
Basic mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn machinery operation procedures quickly.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Reliable attendance and the flexibility to work long shifts, including weekends, during peak harvest.
Prior experience in agricultural processing required
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods throughout the work shift.
Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to work in noisy, dusty, or temperature-variable processing environments while wearing appropriate PPE (gloves, hearing protection, masks).
Work Environment
This position typically works in a plant, warehouse, or agricultural processing facility. The Hulling and Shelling Assistant may be required to work overtime, weekends, or seasonal shifts based on production demands.
