Job Summary
The Inn at Truckee is seeking a dependable and motivated Handyman/Maintenance Technician to help maintain our 43-room boutique motel. The ideal candidate will perform routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs to ensure our property remains clean, safe, and welcoming for our guests.
This position requires someone who is hands-on, self-motivated, and capable of troubleshooting a variety of maintenance issues with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
General Property Maintenance
Perform routine inspections of guest rooms and common areas.
Complete preventative maintenance tasks.
Repair doors, locks, windows, cabinets, and furniture.
Replace light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, and HVAC filters.
Touch up paint and repair drywall as needed.
Plumbing
Repair leaking faucets and toilets.
Unclog sinks, showers, and toilets.
Replace plumbing fixtures when necessary.
Electrical
Replace switches, outlets, and light fixtures.
Troubleshoot minor electrical issues.
Ensure all lighting is operational throughout the property.
HVAC
Inspect heating and air conditioning units.
Replace filters.
Coordinate repairs with outside HVAC contractors when needed.
Grounds Maintenance
Maintain parking lot and walkways.
Pick up litter around the property.
Assist with snow removal during winter months.
Perform landscaping and irrigation repairs.
Qualifications
General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
Preferred Skills
Basic HVAC knowledge.
Basic plumbing and electrical repair experience.
Drywall repair and painting.
Experience using maintenance management software is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and kneel for extended periods.
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Schedule
8-hour shifts
Weekends and holidays as needed
On-call availability for emergency maintenance is a plus
