Ready to Take Your Construction Career into Estimating?
Are you a Project Coordinator or Assistant Project Manager in the construction industry who enjoys working with plans, bids, costs, vendors, and project documentation?
This is an opportunity to take that experience and build a career in electrical construction estimating.
A well-established commercial and industrial electrical contractor is looking for a motivated Project Coordinator who wants to learn the estimating side of the business. You do not need to already be a seasoned electrical estimator. The company is willing to train and mentor someone who has a strong construction foundation, is comfortable working with project documents and numbers, and genuinely wants to move into estimating.
What You'll Do
Initially, you'll support the estimating and project management teams by:
Reviewing incoming bid opportunities and helping determine which projects to pursue
Downloading, organizing, and reviewing plans, specifications, and bid documents
Helping prepare bid packages and project documentation
Coordinating vendor and subcontractor pricing
Assisting with material and labor takeoffs
Tracking multiple bid opportunities and deadlines
Supporting pre-bid preparation and occasional jobsite walkthroughs
Working closely with Project Managers and experienced Estimators
Learning how to build detailed electrical construction estimates
Gradually taking ownership of smaller estimates and bids as your experience grows
Where This Role Can Take You
This is not a dead-end coordinator position.
The goal is to develop the right person into an Electrical Estimator who can eventually manage their own bids and take on increasingly complex projects.
You'll gain hands-on exposure to commercial, industrial, government, military, school, municipal, and public works projects, including projects valued in the millions.
We'd Like to Meet You If You Have
Project Coordinator, Assistant Project Manager, Estimating Coordinator, Project Engineer, or similar construction experience
Experience working for an electrical contractor, commercial subcontractor, mechanical/HVAC contractor, or related construction company
Exposure to bids, proposals, takeoffs, change orders, purchase orders, plans, specifications, or vendor quotes
Strong computer and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and documents
Interest in learning construction estimating
Ability to commute to Robbinsville Township, NJ
A self-motivated attitude and willingness to learn
Electrical construction experience is highly preferred, but you do not need to already be a full-cycle electrical estimator.
Compensation & Schedule
$80,000–$90,000 DOE
Performance-based bonus opportunity
Monday–Friday, typically 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
Primarily office-based with occasional local site visits
Local projects generally within approximately one hour of the office
Health insurance
PTO starting around 2 weeks, with potential flexibility for the right candidate
Sick time
Future 401(k) program planned
Why Consider It?
You'll join an established, family-oriented electrical contractor with long-tenured employees and a collaborative approach between estimating and project management.
Most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to move beyond project coordination and develop a specialized, highly valuable skill set in electrical estimating.
If you're a construction Project Coordinator who has been looking for the opportunity to break into estimating, this could be your next step.
