Pallet repairman is primarily responsible for repairing pallets to a specified spec. This is a full time position where experience is highly recommended. Must be bilingual to communicate with personnel. Applicants will be operating power tools, nail guns, and saws. Pallets are repaired, graded, and then stacked. Safety and quality are the main components to this position.
Pallet repairmen are recommended to wear steel toe work boots, and expected to wear all proper safety equipment at all times. Must be able to read and understand a tape measure, read spec sheets/tool and follow instructions on how to build/repair pallets to specifications.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Maintain tools, keep them clean and notify the supervisor when repairs are needed. Place tools in the tool room daily.
Repair, build, and sort pallets as required by the supervisor based on each customer's requests.
Repair and build all pallets to spec and free of nails/debris.
Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance record.
Ability and willingness to work in a fast paced environment with daily deadlines and goals.
Demonstrate ability and willingness to effectively complete variety of repetitive and high urgency activities at the same time with minimal supervision
Demonstrate ability and willingness to work with others in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation, proactively addressing problems and avoiding crisis whenever possible.
Quality Control - Pull garbage, cardboard, stickers, loose wood, and any other debris off pallets.
Cardboard to be stacked onto a block pallet throughout the day and at the end of shift.
Identify and execute lean opportunities to effectively eliminate waste.
Keep count of pallets repaired
End of shift; clean area, cardboard, garbage into containers, wood scrap into containers, tools back to tool crib
At the end of the day check –out with the Supervisor before leaving.
