Selling a remarkably well-preserved 2004 Honda Pilot EX with the 3.5L V6 engine, all-wheel drive, and three rows of seating. The third row is not pictured but is included.
This Pilot has had just one California owner since it was purchased new in 2004, and its condition speaks volumes about how it has been cared for throughout its life. The interior is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, and the exterior is equally impressive for a vehicle of this age. It is increasingly difficult to find an older SUV that has maintained this level of overall presentation.
What makes this particular Pilot stand out, however, is its maintenance history.
The CARFAX documents 40 service history records, with the overwhelming majority of its maintenance performed at two established Honda dealerships: AutoNation Honda Roseville and Folsom Lake Honda in Rancho Cordova. This was not a vehicle that simply received occasional oil changes. Its history reflects consistent dealership maintenance, preventative servicing, and significant mechanical work over more than two decades of ownership.
Most notably, the transmission underwent an overhaul at AAMCO in November 2019 at approximately 196,500 miles. In November 2021, at approximately 205,700 miles, Folsom Lake Honda replaced the timing belt, water pump, water pump gasket, and serpentine belt, along with servicing the cooling system. The timing belt had also previously been replaced at approximately 100,400 miles.
More recently, the front brake pads and rotors were replaced in August 2023. In February 2026, the rear brake pads were replaced, the rotors were resurfaced, and another oil and filter service was performed. The vehicle continued receiving attention from Folsom Lake Honda as recently as August 2026.
These are meaningful maintenance records, particularly on a higher-mileage vehicle. The transmission, timing belt, water pump, cooling system, and brakes are all important components that can become expensive when neglected. Having documentation of the work performed provides a level of confidence that is difficult to find in most vehicles of comparable age.
The CARFAX also confirms one-owner history, no reported structural damage or total loss, and one minor rear damage report dating back to 2013.
At $5,999 the value of this Pilot is not simply in its reputation as a dependable Honda. It is in its exceptional condition, longstanding ownership, extensive dealership service history, and the documented mechanical work completed throughout its life.
Honda’s 3.5L V6 is well regarded for its durability when properly maintained, and this particular example has a maintenance history worth examining. Although no vehicle’s future reliability can be guaranteed, this Pilot offers something genuinely valuable: documented evidence of how it was cared for over 22 years.
