(updated mid July 2026)
IF THIS OFFER IS STILL POSTED on Craigslist then it is still for sale and I may not respond to requests like "Is it still for sale".
Released in 1986 as part of the Santa Fe Work Train Service Station Special. Quoting from the Greenberg's Guide to Lionel Trains; "Sprung Trucks (the only work caboose so equipped)". The standard "O" springs are functional. This caboose has working magnetic couplers front and back. It is also the only red work caboose that has the square (as opposed to round) A.T.S.F. emblem on the cab. It is a hard to find item in excellent condition like this one.
Payment: USD (cash)
Note: shipping is not included in the price.
Minimally run, this car is in pristine condition. There are no missing parts or damage and there is no rust anywhere. The original box is included. May you be the lucky winner, and,
Happy Railroading,
Al
PS: To buy (from online postwar train parts suppliers) just one new pair of the Lionel Standard "O" sprung trucks, identical to the ones on this caboose, you are looking at around $31 to $40. Including shipping, you can expect about $26 to $30 per pair on Ebay.
