How does a thermal mass flow meter measure compressed air? It uses a heated sensor and a reference sensor to detect the cooling effect produced as air moves through the instrument. The temperature difference between the elements corresponds to the mass flow rate and is processed electronically for output. This approach provides accurate gas measurement with low pressure drop. Applications include compressed air monitoring, nitrogen measurement, natural gas distribution, inert gas service, and HVAC systems.
