At only 24 inches wide, the Fire TV Soundbar is small, as far as soundbars go.
While that size makes it easy to position on most TV stands or mount on the wall, with its included mounting hardware and drilling template, it comes at the cost of mediocre left and right channel separation.
When sitting a few feet from the Fire TV Soundbar, such as in a small room, you can certainly tell when objects in TV shows or movies move across the screen and the soundbar does a decent job of simulating a center speaker channel, even though it only has a pair of 20-watt speakers on either end.
However, once you’re sitting about seven feet out or more away, it starts to just sound like a single point of audio, which is something
wider soundbars don’t suffer from as much.
I’m certainly not an audiophile but I’d say the Fire TV Soundbar sounds just fine.
It’s louder and fuller than most TV speakers, so it’ll be a noticeable improvement to no external audio source at all.
There’s just nothing that makes this part of the Fire TV family of devices other than the name it was given and it might as well be branded as an Amazon Basics soundbar.
It is no easier or simpler to use with a Fire TV device than any other HDMI ARC/eARC capable soundbar and it certainly doesn’t have any uniquely Amazon features, like hands-free voice control, built-in Alexa, Alexa Home Theater support, or anything else of that nature.
