Save On Parts Auto Wrecking Ltd. is an established automotive recycling and salvage company based in Surrey, BC. We recycle end-of-life and damaged vehicles, recover and inspect usable components, and supply quality used OEM auto parts to our customers.
We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager - Automotive Recycling to lead our automotive recycling and production operations, including vehicle processing, dismantling, parts recovery, inventory and material recycling, and to oversee these operational areas through managers and supervisors responsible for their day-to-day activities.
Main Duties:
- Set operating goals and establish policies for vehicle intake and processing, dismantling, parts recovery, inventory and recycling operations.
- Plan and organize the work of the yard and parts operations, including vehicle processing, dismantling, recovery and inspection of usable parts, inventory handling and recycling of remaining materials.
- Determine staffing, equipment and other resource needs and allocate operating funds, staff and equipment across the yard, dismantling and parts operations.
- Select and oversee managers and supervisors responsible for vehicle dismantling, parts recovery, inventory and recycling, and assign them responsibility for the day-to-day operation of their respective areas.
- Coordinate vehicle intake and dismantling with parts recovery and inventory operations to ensure usable components are identified, inspected and added to inventory efficiently and recyclable materials are properly processed.
- Establish operating budgets and controls, monitor labour and processing costs, and review vehicle processing volumes, parts recovery and overall productivity.
- Review yard workflow, equipment use and staffing needs and approve operational changes to improve efficiency and maximize the recovery of usable parts and recyclable materials.
- Represent the company in operational matters and negotiations with vehicle suppliers, recycling and disposal partners, equipment and service providers, and regulatory authorities.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree is required. A master’s degree is an asset.
- At least 5-7 years of progressively responsible management experience, including experience at the senior management level, is required.
- Experience in operations management, production, recycling, automotive, industrial operations or another related operational environment is preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, decision-making and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of operational planning, cost control and performance management.
