Are you an experienced mechanic who wants to run your own operation?
We have a fully licensed and equipped mechanical shop that is currently unstaffed, we have plenty of work for our own businesses, and an established auto wrecking / parts business whose customers regularly need the parts they purchase installed.
We’re looking for a capable, reliable mechanic who wants to take charge of the shop and help build a profitable repair business.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We already have the space, equipment and a source of customers. You bring the mechanical expertise, work ethic and ability to run the day-to-day operation.
The shop has room for approximately three staff. Our goal is to build toward a lead mechanic, a second mechanic and an apprentice or helper as the workload grows.
Alongside our internal work, we want to offer installation services to customers purchasing parts from our wrecking business and develop an outside repair customer base.
WHAT WE BRING
• Fully equipped mechanical shop with room to grow
• Substantial mechanical work from our own businesses
• Established parts business and customer relationships
• Opportunity to offer installation directly to parts buyers
• Access to used parts through our wrecking operation
• An owner interested in building a successful long-term business
• The stability of not having to deal with a lease, shitty landlords or strata rules.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• An experienced automotive mechanic with strong diagnostic and repair skills
• Someone comfortable with engine, transmission, drivetrain and general mechanical work
• Reliable, organized and able to work independently
• Able to estimate jobs accurately and follow them through to completion
• Takes pride in workmanship and stands behind their work
• Communicates clearly with customers and coworkers
• Interested in helping hire, train and supervise a small team
• Wants some of the responsibility and all of the opportunity that come with running an operation, but with the cushion of having help, existing infrastructure, customers and finance.
Please tell us about your qualifications, experience and the types of vehicles and repairs you know best.
THE ARRANGEMENT
We’re open to discussing compensation, profit sharing and a potential long-term partnership with the right person.
The structure will depend on your experience, what you bring to the operation and how responsibilities are shared. We want clear expectations and an arrangement that works for both sides.
This would suit an experienced technician ready for more responsibility, or someone who has wanted to start a shop but hasn’t had the premises, equipment or customer base to get going.
TO APPLY
Reply through Craigslist with:
• Your name and phone number
• A brief summary of your mechanical experience
• Your certifications, if any
• Any experience running a shop or supervising staff
• What kind of arrangement you’re looking for
• Your availability to meet and get started
A résumé is welcome, but a detailed introduction is fine too.
