Marvin’s Safe Co. Floor safe. Key operated not a combination. Key is missing but it is locked open. Single pigeon hole draw in upper left interior. On four caster wheels. This is roughly 150 years old and a great collector’s item. Very heavy of course. It needs a new home now.
Here are the details I have been able to gather:
Manufacturer: Marvin’s Safe Company, New York City (est. 1838)
Patent date: December 1, 1863 (missing bronze medallion plaque)
Lock type: Flat key lever lock (key-operated, no combination dial)
The safe appears to be a single-door floor safe on four wheel casters. The bronze patent medallion reads "Marvin's Patent Dec. 1st, 1863." I have not yet located a serial number, though I have checked the inner door edge and door face.
