🔥 1987 FORD BRONCO EDDIE BAUER 4X4 — BLACK ON BLACK — 5.0 V8 AUTO 🔥
$7,000 — CASH / POSSIBLE PARTIAL TRADE
If you've been looking for a 1987 Eddie Bauer Bronco to build into something special, take a look at this one. This is a rust-free, straight-body Bronco with beautiful black paint, a 5.0 V8, automatic transmission, 4x4, and brand-new tires.
It is a project, but it's a project with a lot of the hard and expensive work already done. The body is extremely clean, the floorboards are solid, the paint looks great, and the truck has a ton of potential. Finish the mechanical diagnosis, put the correct Eddie Bauer interior back together, install the windshield and carpet, sort out the instrument cluster, and you could have one seriously sharp classic Bronco.
⭐ THE GOOD STUFF
* Body & Paint: Rust-free body, beautifully refinished exterior, and clean, solid floorboards.
* Fiberglass Top: Completely repaired, refinished, and bedlined. Extremely solid and durable.
* Wheels & Tires: Brand-new tires (never used). Matching spare wheel included, plus an extra matching fifth wheel (no tire).
* Power Features: Power windows, power door locks, and a working rear power tailgate window.
* Mechanical Upgrades: Aftermarket headers, replaced exhaust system, brakes and brake lines done, and new wheel bearings.
* New Sensors/Parts: New EGR, fuel pressure regulator, TPS, and ECT sensor.
🖤 THE BODY IS THE BIG STORY
The body on this Bronco is clean and rust-free inside and out. The floorboards are in excellent condition. Because the carpet is currently out, you can actually inspect the solid floors yourself instead of having carpet hide them.
The body was seam-sealed and professionally refinished with incredible attention to detail.
Door latches, locks, handles, mirrors, and hardware were removed before painting whenever possible (or carefully masked) for a very clean, natural finish. Body gaps are good, lines line up, and the doors, hood, and liftgate open and close properly. The rear swing gate closes securely and doesn't rattle.
* Windshield: The cracked windshield has already been removed. The opening is clean and ready for new glass. Undamaged chrome windshield trim and clips are included.
* Aesthetics: Let's be honest... Black on black looks badass on an old Bronco.
🔧 ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN
The truck features a 5.0 V8 and automatic transmission.
* The Engine: I was told by the previous owner it was completely rebuilt and features roller rockers. While I can't personally guarantee internal work, there are visible signs of engine work, including new-looking seals and freeze plugs.
* The Transmission: Has been driven and works properly. I've personally driven the Bronco around the block several times when the engine was running correctly.
⚠️ IMPORTANT — RUNNING ISSUE & TROUBLESHOOTING DETAILS
I'm not going to pretend this is a finished, turn-key truck. The engine currently has a running issue that needs to be fully diagnosed. It will start and run well, but after running for a while, it begins running rough and eventually dies because the spark plugs are getting wet with fuel. After drying the plugs, it runs great again until the problem returns.
I’ve done quite a bit of troubleshooting on this fuel-overfueling issue. Here is exactly what I have tested so far:
* MAP Sensor: Tested with a multimeter and vacuum pump. The computer is supplying the correct 5V reference, and sensor voltage decreases smoothly down to ~1.5V as vacuum is applied. No obvious issues.
* Throttle Position Sensor (TPS): Bench-tested the original and found dropouts. Replaced it with a brand-new TPS which now has a smooth sweep with no dropouts (though over-fueling is still present).
* Fuel Pressure / Injectors / Regulator: Connected a pressure tester and primed the system. It held pressure overnight, which rules out leaking injectors. The previous owner also installed multiple fuel pressure regulators, so this area has seen attention.
* Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor: The original sensor tested flatlined, so I have replaced it with a new one.
Next Steps for Diagnosis:
There are still areas I haven't been able to fully verify. This issue can definitely be pinned down with further electrical/EFI troubleshooting. My recommendation would be to diagnose it with an automotive oscilloscope to determine whether the ignition is dropping out or whether the injector pulse is incorrect. This is a great project for someone who knows Ford EFI systems, Broncos, or has a good mechanic.
📟 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER & ELECTRICAL
Other than the instrument cluster, the electrical system is working very well.
* Working Electrical: Headlights, parking lights, reverse lights, turn signals, door locks, power windows, and the rear power tailgate window (works from both the dash switch and the rear key cylinder).
* The Cluster Needs Attention: The flexible circuit board has multiple cracked circuit traces. I attempted to repair them but wasn't successful. There is also a broken wire associated with the gear selector indicator. I recommend finding a known-good replacement cluster/contact circuit board and shift-selector cable. Bonus: A working cluster will allow the check-engine light to function, making EFI diagnosis much easier.
🪑 INTERIOR STATUS
The interior needs finishing, but the bones are excellent:
* Floors: Carpet is out, giving you a perfect blank canvas to install new carpet or sound-deadening material.
* Seats: The current front seats are Ford Ranger seats. They are secure and usable, but not correct. To finish it right, you'll want tan Eddie Bauer front seats, the correct center console, and carpet.
* Trim: I have the Bronco's interior trim pieces; most are in very good condition and ready to be reused.
💰 PRICE — $7,000
Asking $7,000 cash. I'm primarily looking to cash out, but I may consider the right deal or a partial trade with mostly cash involved. I am not interested in trading for something that is going to leave me with another project!
WHY THIS BRONCO?
If you're looking for a completely finished, turn-key show truck, this isn't it. But if you want a clean, rust-free Bronco project with beautiful paint, solid floors, a finished top, brand-new tires, and a straight body, the remaining work is very straightforward for someone who knows these trucks.
Come look at it, inspect it, bring your mechanic, or bring someone who knows Broncos. I'm happy to be completely upfront about what I know and what still needs to be done.
P.S. If you like the paintwork on this truck and have another vehicle that needs paint, save my contact info. I may be interested in helping you out with your project, too!
