I must go see our Monarch again today about raising some men to fight the kingdom abroad. But the moat really does need some love -- the moss growths seemingly anger the carp who then take it out on poor Jonathan.
Four deep breaths, then into the throne room. He coughs upon entering (he forgot to exhale after the last breath).
"My liege, and chancellor, I suppose you've heard about the moat's ongoing problem at the castle? Yes, of course. But we would also be wise to hire more woodcutters to increase profits throughout the west duke's dutchy. And your son has been holding feasts with some... Oh, of course, my liege. It is only your third estate after all, and he must learn how to manage the local village (...even if the cellar is running dry).
"Finally, our spies have noticed increased thievery throughout the kingdom. I imagine the chancellor has already made you aware. But people are now calling for raising a new militia force to attack the southern kingdom. It is simply rumors from moneylenders at this point, but these ideas are actively spreading through the markets.
"That is all for today, my liege. I leave the rest in your capable hands."
The doors close and the chaplain sighs (as usual), takes some much needed air -- coughs for a bit -- then heads out to give Jonathan some gospel.

** My City (New) **

I take the utmost pride in my work, even though you may think city planning is monotonous and not all that important. "What's so difficult about pointin' to a patch of dirt and tellin' someone else to build on it?" Oh, but you would be so wrong.
That "patch of dirt" is actually a gorgeous, well-surveyed field that sits near the river. It calls out for purpose while welcoming our residents into beauty; it willingly provides, for lack of a better term, an Eden to all. Perhaps it could make for a civic center that shall propel our future city to fame. And who can forget the needs of the people? Those who strive to find better, more meaningful work than could ever be found elsewhere?
And monotonous? I almost feel sorry for you. My family goes back to the beginning of what "development" has come to mean. And we have worked these lands and others to provide fertile ground for numerous generations to follow. I myself have had the honour of such a distinction. I cannot tell you what it is, but it matters not to me, for I am the one who plants the olive tree to know, one day, it shall readily blossom and my joy shall spread far after the purpose of the land has long been fulfilled.
It may seem like little blocks of land to you, but it is a landscape of possibilities to me.

"Call Harv." The line connects. ".. Yeah, yeah, tell me about why you're stopping my play on the bakery and with it the two planned wheat fields that would.. ..they're fields, Harv. Just put on your best Johnny Appleseed overalls and you can take care of the orchards too.. ..You already have that money, I don't roll the dice.. ..And if you want that mall, I need to know that my food strategy is safe from that development on the other side of town.. ..up to two more? Ugh.. ..Then let's rush the cheese factory and restaurant, they can have the stadium, we both get the out-of-towners who will be using our trains, our malls, and our parks.. ..Great, Harv. Let's never do this again." She hangs up. She had a missed call from J.
"What do you want, J?.. ..I can't stand you. And, apparently, cars can't either." She hangs up. Maybe she can send him to the mines once his legs heal. Interns...
