Hello and welcome; I have a 2b/1ba that is currently occupied by myself and one other, but they are inevitably leaving of their own accord or after a suitable housemate is located. My intention is to spend time and speak with people over the course of November, then move forward with a selection while allowing December for the current roommate to arrange exit. If no-one is a good fit within that timeframe, the interview process will carry on through 2026 for a roommate in February and so on. It is 100% necessary for me to find the right person for the house rather than just a person who pays rent, and with that in mind, here are some of the particulars:
Age/gender don't matter
Apolitical
High degree of sociability, i.e. proactive engagement, not just superficial friendliness/politeness
Sense of humor
Realistic cynicism
Self-awareness
Empathy
Openmindedness
Creative proclivities (art, music, craft, fabrication, design)
Active pursuit of goals that allow space for other people in your life
Active interest in collaboration
Understanding of intentional community's purpose and benefits
Willingness to help and be helped
Atheist/Agnostic
Cat lover
Desire to detatch from popular narrative/consumption culture
DIY over buy, buy, buy
Ability to accept, share, and delegate responsibility
Desire to learn AND teach
Focus on people, not things
Non-traditional
COMMUNICATOR
The above is undoubtedly an incomplete list, but at least points in the right direction. Rather than put a comprehensive list of traits and details about who you would be dealing with (me), I prefer to have an organic interaction with you at interview time with no preconceptions. There is flexibility in the requirements to the extent that I can trust your heart and mind are of sound quality, and that you are prepared to grow as a person, together; not because of some misplaced optimism about the nobility of a cause, but because it is the only sane choice in an increasingly insane world.
If you think you would be a good fit, or if you're just curious and want to talk about projects, please get in touch and we can set up a time and place to meet. Please be aware that the apartment is purely a temporary stopgap, pending purchase and development of land. That may not happen for quite a while, or it could happen fairly rapidly if we are both in sync. (Perhaps) Obviously, the goal is not to pay rent forever, beyond which an apartment is not a particularly suitable space for workshopping, large meetings, instrumentation, or outdoor activities.
Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to meeting you.
Be well, stay focused.
