Position Summary
The Habilitative Specialist helps to advocate and provide support to ensure a safe, healthy, and respectful environment for clients. This role assists in maintaining compliance with DDCS, WAC, and Agency policies by keeping all documentation and client books up to date, maintaining effective communication, and modeling professional standards. The Habilitative Specialist, with direction from the Lead and Program Manager, will help both co-staff and clients to understand expectations and ensure routines and care plans are followed.

Work Environment
This job operates primarily in a client home environment. Other locations such as medical offices, administrative office, public spaces, etc. will be frequented based on individual client support needs. This position requires interactions with multiple individuals and providers; including but not limited to law enforcement, guardians, state auditors, medical professionals, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles/pathogens, moving mechanical parts/equipment, vibration, outside weather conditions, behavioral challenges (i.e. assaultive behavior), noise, household cleaning equipment/products, animals, etc.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must occasionally lift and move items or clients over 50 pounds, with adaptive equipment if necessary. This position may require frequent computer/tablet use for documentation and tracking. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
This position contains full time and part time options for days, nights, swings, weekends, and weekdays. Hours are determined by Administrator, Program Manager, HR, and Scheduler based on the needs of the home. Some weekends, evenings, and holidays may be required.
Travel
Depending on the shift, while performing duties of this job, the employee will need to travel to multiple locations in varying weather conditions (snow, rain, hail, etc.). The employee must have and maintain a working/reliable registered, insured, and tabbed vehicle.
Required Education and Experience
- Employee must be 18 years old or older
- Must have a minimum of two professional and one personal reference.
Preferred Education & Experience
- High School diploma or GED
- HCA, active NAR, NAC, HCAC, CPR/First Aid/BBP, Nurse delegation, Therapeutic Options, etc.
- Prior leadership/management experience
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to be employed in the U.S.
- Must pass WA state background check
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and reliable, insured vehicle
- Completion of all Agency required trainings + 12 CE’s completed per year
