Based on Epiphone's standardized 11-digit serial number format, your Epiphone SG Special was manufactured in October 2016 at the Qingdao factory in China (Factory Code: 23). It was the 3383rd instrument stamped in that production run.
During this specific 2016 production era, the standard Epiphone SG Special featured a unique hardware setup before the model line was refreshed a few years later:
Pickups: Outfitted with high-output 650R (neck) and 700T (bridge) open-coil ceramic humbuckers. These deliver a sharper, hotter, and more saturated tone compared to the vintage-voiced Alnico V magnets found in the step-up G-400 models.
Electronics: Equipped with a master volume and a master tone control featuring an integrated KillPot™. Pressing down on the tone knob acts as a momentary kill switch, cutting the signal instantly to create stutter effects.
Neck Profile: A fast-playing SlimTaper™ "D" profile hard maple neck utilizing a sturdy 4-bolt recessed bolt-on construction joint.
Hardware & Body: A solid mahogany body coupled with a LockTone™ Tune-O-Matic bridge and StopBar tailpiece to increase overall sustain and ease string changes.
