The leather bird shot flask is embossed with images of a bird dog on each side with a brass tube and lever for the shot dispenser to provide the right amount of shot. It was my great grandfather’s and dates to the mid to latter 1800s. It indicates 3 lbs on one side of the leather flask, presumably the weight when filled with bird shot (it is empty). The leather is in excellent condition with an attractive patina and the dispenser lever still works.
