Vintage Mid-Century Impressionist Oil Painting – Child in Field – Signed Hassell

"A charming original oil on canvas depicting a young child in a golden autumn field. This piece features a rich, impasto texture and warm, nostalgic lighting. Professionally framed in a heavy vintage wood frame with a linen mat. A perfect example of 1980s Americana interior art."

This piece is a vintage mid-century impressionist oil painting featuring a child in a sunlit field with a barn in the background. Based on the markings and style, here is the identification of the work:
Artist Identification
The artist is Hassell, as seen in the cursive signature in the lower left corner and written on the canvas reverse.
The name "Chartier" and the date "18-87" (likely August 1987) on the canvas edge typically indicate either:
1. A specific collection or owner name from a previous estate.
2. The gallery or frame series name, as it appears alongside a serial number.
Production Details
• Source: The stamp on the back confirms this was an "Exclusively Manufactured" piece for Creative Interiors, Inc. * Style: This is a "Commercial Fine Art" piece from the 1970s–1980s. During this era, companies like Creative Interiors commissioned talented artists to create original oils in popular styles (Impressionism/Americana) for high-end furniture showrooms and interior designers.
• Framing: It is housed in its original heavy wood frame with a linen-lined inner border (typical of the 1980s "Country Chic" aesthetic).
Specifications
• Frame Size: 19.25 in x 23.25$ in.
• Art Size: 11.25 in x 15.25 in (Standard 12x16 stretched canvas).
• Medium: Oil on canvas.
Market Context
While "Creative Interiors" pieces were mass-distributed to showrooms, they remain popular on the secondary market because they are true hand-painted oils rather than prints. They are highly valued for "Farmhouse" or "Shabby Chic" decor.

Condition Note: The canvas shows some minor age-related "craquelure" or surface marks (visible in the upper left of the field), which adds to its vintage character.
Maintained in a pet-free and smoke-free environ
