This is a small/50cm K2 Tradewinds bike I built up for one of my kids to try cyclocross. My child is 5’2” and the fit was good, but we’ll just say that CX wasn’t their thing and the bike got ridden at a few practice sessions and that’s it.
I built it up with flat bars as I thought it would provide an easier, more intuitive entry into the sport for someone who hasn’t ridden drop bars. The flat pedals are on there for the same reasons.
Here’s some relevant details:
K2 Tradewinds aluminum frame and fork
700c Shimano RS-501 wheels with Clement PDX CX tires
New Raceface narrow/wide 36 tooth chainring
New chain
XT 9spd shifter and rear derailleur
TRP CX 8.4 mini V brakeset with hardware
Salsa titanium skewers
Specialized carbon seatpost with Zerts inserts
Flat pedals, but I may have some SPDs I could put on.
There’s a kind of beaten up WTB Deva titanium railed saddle on there now because it’s comfy for a wide range of people with different body types, but I do have an unused generic saddle I can swap in.
Weight is 20.5lbs - with some older Ksyrium Elite wheels it was under 20lbs.
This is a great bike for a kid or someone of shorter stature to dip their toes into cyclocross with (the season will be upon us before we know it) without much of a cash layout. The more folks enjoying the community and competition the better! BUT - this bike would also make a fun, fast commuter.
LMK if you have questions or if you’d like to arrange a test ride.
