A wonderful mid-century original gouache painting on paper by listed Northwest artist Ross Gill (1887-1969). Titled "Pot Belly Stove," this charming, atmospheric still-life showcases a classic vintage stove set against a deep mottled green background.
The piece features a double signature—signed by the artist "RGill" within the painting itself (bottom left) and fully hand-signed and titled along the bottom edge of the gray matting board. The painting is housed in a handsome vintage quarter-sawn oak wood frame and remains in excellent condition.

Artist Biography & Exhibition History
Ross Gill (1887–1969) was a prominent, highly active regional artist based in Washington State. Born in Beloit, Kansas, he eventually settled in Bothell, Washington, where his home was famously known as the oldest log home in the Canyon Park area. He studied formal art at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League in New York before establishing his career in the Pacific Northwest.
• Exhibitions & Memberships: Gill was an active member of the Puget Sound Group of Northwest Painters. He exhibited regularly at the Seattle Art Museum between 1935 and 1949, had a solo exhibition with the Boise Art Group in Idaho, and his paintings were frequently featured on the covers of the Seattle Times Sunday Magazine in the late 1960s.
• The Medium: While he worked in oils, he was exceptionally well-known for his masterful use of opaque water-based mediums like tempera and gouache on paper/board.
