About the Artwork: Released in 1999 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his iconic sold-out work Once Upon a Time, Flight of the Fablemaker is a breathtaking masterclass in whimsical fantasy storytelling. It depicts a magnificent, golden-sailed medieval ship sailing directly through a rich, sun-dappled autumn forest. The vessel is crowded with classic mythical archetypes, including the woolly-bearded captain (the magical bard), a majestic bear, regal queens, and jovial dwarves. Throughout the surrounding woods, delicate fairies drift through the air, while Lewis Carroll’s iconic White Rabbit checks his pocket watch in the foreground. It is an incredibly detailed, captivating piece that offers something new to look at every time you view it.
