The Space:
We are renting out our charming 510 sq ft lower-level "mother-in-law" unit in a quiet Upper Green Lake neighborhood.
The unit has:
* Private entrance
* Private kitchen
* Private bathroom
* Small closet
* Access to a large shared backyard
* Shared washer/dryer on site
* Abundant street parking
* Utilities and high-speed internet included
The photos show the space with various furnishings to give you a sense of the layout and size. The unit will be rented unfurnished.
The stainless-steel countertop/table and metal shelving shown in the photos can stay if you'd like them; otherwise, we'll remove them.
One of the perks of this lower-level tile-floored unit is that it stays wonderfully cool in the summer, which is especially nice during Seattle's increasingly hot summer days.
The Backyard:
The backyard is a shared space and is a bit of an oasis. It has four mature fruit trees (fig, plum, and apple), a grill, fire pit, cement ping-pong table, and outdoor furniture — all of which you're welcome to enjoy.
The yard gets lots of sun, and lawn maintenance is included in the rent.
Please Note About Sound:
This is a lower-level unit in an older home, so normal household sounds and footsteps from the residence above can be heard at times. The unit is best suited to someone who is comfortable with some degree of normal household noise.
We want to be upfront about this so that it's a good fit for everyone!
About Location:
The house is located just north of Green Lake, approximately a 10-minute walk to both Greenlake and Licton springs Park
It's also a very accessible location:
* Very quick access to I-5 and 99 (yet insulated from noise)
* Multiple public transit options nearby
* Light rail access nearby
* Abundant street parking directly in front of the house
The neighborhood itself is quiet, friendly, and residential.
Pets 🐾
Pets are considered on an individual basis, with an additional monthly pet fee.
If you have a dog, they would be sharing the backyard with our happy-go-lucky Australian Shepherd, Bodhi.
If you have a cat, Bodhi has lived with cats before and is friendly to them, however if your cat goes outdoors may take some introduction for him to learn the cat is 'part of the pack' and not to be chased off the property (which he takes much pride in with squirrels, crows & rabbits).
Bodhi isn't much of a barker unless he hears someone unfamiliar entering the house. Otherwise, he's more of a butt-wiggling, gleeful, snorting kind of guy. 😊
About Us:
The main house is shared by me, my partner, and Bodhi.
We're in our mid-30s — I'm a functional doctor and my partner is a custom stair carpenter.
We both work Monday–Friday and keep things pretty mellow during the week. We're also generally fairly low-key on weekends.
In the winter, we're often snowboarding on weekends, and in the summer we spend a lot of time camping and exploring.
We occasionally have friends over for a dinner or backyard hang on a nice weekend, and maybe an annual or bi-annual birthday celebration, but overall we're pretty quiet and work-focused during the week.
