Steel box with exterior dimensions: 24 inches wide, 60 inches long, and 28 inches high. This is similar to the Knaack model 60 which weighs approximately 190 LBS empty, according to that manufacturer. I haven’t weighed this, but it is similar, I believe.
I bought this to protect my tools when I was general contractor for a major home remodel. Sadly, too many opportunistic thieves know that valuable tools are left alone at night during such projects. To prevent loss, I purchased this unit. Now I’m retired and it has been sitting under a covered porch for over a decade, unused. So it is time for it to go to somebody who needs it.
This item is very similar to a current one being sold at Home Depot for $1,320. (Knaack Model # 60-KL Internet # 335668162, https://www.homedepot.com/p/Knaack-60-in-W-x-24-in-L-x-28-in-H-Steel-Jobsite-Tool-Storage-Chest-with-Lock-60-KL/335668162#see-more-details).
Mine comes with two padlocks, one for each end of the box. The new model Home Depot is selling has only one lock. As you may know, these job boxes have a clever design for security. You close the lid and then push the body of the lock in to close it. Then the hasp is very well protected from being cut to open the box. The box has two folding handles for transporting it when empty. Full length piano hinge for security. Mine has some places where the paint is crackling and a few superficial rust areas. Of course, you could paint it with Rustoleum if that mattered to you. My box is fully functional as is.
