Beautiful 15 horsepower 1954 vintage Evinrude Fastwin 2 stroke outboard motor with remote tank. Motor is in excellent cosmetic condition and I believe good mechanical condition as well. The tank is in need of repair or replacement (more on the tank further down).
This is a one owner motor purchased new by my father in 1954 or '55 and was used occasionally on borrowed craft until around 1964 when we bought our own boat, then used seasonally until the mid 1980s. This motor was always a great runner. I don't remember ever having to do anything to it other than replacing the spark plugs every couple of years and an occasional shear pin. We did lose the prop once so the prop that's on the motor now is a replacement and is a better quality one than the original.
This motor has always been stored in the basement garage and covered when not in use, never out in the weather. The late 1960s vintage canvas cover made by Rainier Tent and Awning is included with the motor (cover shown in last photo).
Unfortunately, the last time dad put the motor away he neglected to put the tank up on the stand, he left it on the concrete floor near the garage door where water would sometimes seep in during heavy rain, so the bottom of the tank rusted out from the outside around the bottom. I do have another tank from a different motor that I’ll include if you want it. The fuel hose is the double hose style. Because of its age, the hose should be replaced.
The motor turns over and feels like it's got good compression but I have not tried to start it. Since it hasn't run in many years there's a good chance the carb and maybe the magneto need some attention. The excellent cosmetic condition of this motor and the good care and treatment it has received throughout its years make it an excellent candidate for a restoration.
