> Hi, I'm J. I'm a freelance math & science tutor, working remotely from the Seattle area. By now, I've helped more than 20 students across 2 years of tutoring work in K-12 and college-level material; my expertise lies especially in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. Helping other people expand their knowledge of the universe is a privilege. Apart from the joy of the craft, I have also learned a great deal from my tutoring experience. # My Background
// Experience
> My work has largely been with K-12 students in the greater Seattle area; Math 6-8, Algebra 1-2, Geometry, Precalculus, Chemistry A/B, Physics A/B &c. I've also tutored Calculus and General Chemistry at the college level, and worked with a couple of community college students doing remedial math & science coursework. If you're looking for instruction in middle-school, high-school or college undergraduate STEM material, I have the background to help you.
// Education
> Associate of Science (AS-T), North Seattle College. I followed the physical-sciences path ("Track 2"). My degree involved mathematical coursework ranging through differential, integral and multivariable calculus; vector calculus; ordinary differential equations; and linear algebra (linear maps & matrix operations). My training also incorporated an Engineering Physics series covering calculus-based kinematics & dynamics, electricity & magnetism, and optics; along with General Chemistry, ranging over a variety of subjects (chemical structure & bonding; stoichiometry; kinetics; acid-base chemistry; chemical equilibrium; thermochemistry; coordination complexes; gas laws; &c).

// Payment
> As noted, the first business week of tutoring appointments is offered for free. This comprises five 1-hour tutoring sessions, scheduled whenever is convenient for both of us. After that, I'll generally ask for $20/hr. Payment is typically arranged through CashApp, Venmo or similar services. All sessions are conducted remotely. Often, I'll have a few days out of the month that I don't plan to do anything with. If somebody is struggling with finances, I don't mind teaching a few tutoring sessions free of charge. If that's the case, just ask me when you get in touch. You'll get a free week, and in some cases I'll be able to do a few more follow-on sessions throughout the next couple of months. I've seen many students improve substantially over just a few sessions - often, it's just about realizing that you can do it!
// Meetings
> Most of my meetings are through Zoom, although Discord or other remote services are also fine. To use our time efficiently, I ask that you send me the tutoring session's material in advance. This prevents us from losing time as the student gathers materials. It also allows me to maximize the impact of the time we'll spend in our meetings by preparing in-depth tailored instruction. Shoot me over the text you're studying out of, and any relevant materials; the syllabus, homework assignments we might want to work on, &c.
