Everything the 98 is known for potentially having problems, have been replaced (BEFORE A PROBLEM SURFACED). In April 2026, the mechanics found a mild valve cover gasket leak. Being as they were breaking down the engine to replace the gasket, we had the timing belt, belt tensioner, water pump and all necessary gaskets replaced. In August 2021, the left power steering bellow was leaking steering fluid. Instead of drilling out the bellow and installing an oversized one, we had the stock rack and pinion system replaced with the Volkswagen recommended ATP Rack and Pinion Assembly.
