This is the Korg P3 Piano Module from the original Korg M1 time period in the 1980's. The M1 piano sound was used on countless recordings and live back then and the P3's two piano sounds came after and are slight variations on that classic sound. I saw Laura Nyro playing an M1 live one time and it was good enough for her. There are many more realistic piano sounds available now while this is vintage, a bit of a time capsule. The P3 hooks up to a standard MIDI keyboard by it's DIN connector or else to a PC or Mac device with an inexpensive adapter.
In a rock band context the brighter Piano 1 will cut through, while the fuller sounding Piano 2 would be more suitable for other music. There are newer piano sound sources out now, but for a retro 80's piano sound in recordings or on a gig this will do the trick without someone having to find an expensive older Korg M1 or T series keyboard or module in good working condition. The Korg P3 works fine and includes the power supply. It accepts a few Korg cards with additional sounds. It has a few scratches as you can see in the photo, that's all. I have the manual as a PDF file if I can find it, but it's available free online also. The sounds can be split, transposed, doubled, etc. I made a pretty good recording with the P3 one time. Velocity response can also be adjusted.
