We're a non-profit STEM school looking for amazing instructors to join our team teaching K-8 students in robotics and any other STEM courses you have expertise in! We are specifically looking for a coach for REC (formerly VEX) robotics (elementary and middle school IQ and middle school V5) and instructors for K-5 STEM classes. Looking for someone to expand on our robotics/programming class offerings geared towards K-5 this fall with microbit, VEX GO/IQ, and/or Makecode arcade and also add STEM offerings beyond robotics. We're a local non-profit STEM school for K-12 students. We're looking for experienced, energetic, bright individuals to instruct and inspire young scientists through demos and hands-on practice.
Please be available to work 1-3 mornings or afternoons per week (whatever fits your schedule), on Tues/Wed/Thurs for 1-1.5 hours per day. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Love kids and science!
• Ability to manage a classroom with up to 12 kids.
• Enjoy and have experience (currently or within the last 2-3 years) working with groups of children
• Have reliable transportation to get to the school on time
• Have a fun and outgoing personality while being responsible, dependable and consistent
• Have experience with STEM
• Pass a background check and mandatory reporter training
• Be able to work independently as well as in a team situation
• Be able to multi- task, make sound judgments and demonstrate appropriate role modeling
• Positive attitude in actions and words
EDUCATION
• Preferred: Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree in STEM or Education -and/or- equivalent life experience to match
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
• Arrive early to the school to prep for classes
• Assist students in getting to the room in which you’re instructing
• Keep students safe, and report any injuries (emotional/physical) immediately
• Offer best tips and examples for students to follow
• Instruct step-by-step STEM lessons that allow for students’ creativity within the project
• Uphold the school’s policies/expectations for students and keep students accountable
• Prepare materials (paid for and provided by Silverleaf School), and keep supply bins organized
• Clean up and leave the classroom as clean or better than when you arrived
COMPENSATION
$25-$60 per 1-hour class once a week, dependent on the enrollment of the course for instructors. $25/hr for robotics coach position.
This is an Independent Contractor position. No taxes will come out of your paychecks. Instructors will be required to claim and file taxes independently from Silverleaf School. If your income from teaching exceeds $2000 per year, you’ll be provided with a 1099 from Silverleaf School to include in your tax filing.
