Size 20" frame is technically a size large. Will fit riders in the 5'10 range.
700c wheels, lugged chromoly steel frame, Shimano bar end shifters! Tire clearance up to 38mm at least, likely would fit a 40/42 depending on tire manufacturer.
I found this beautiful Bianchi, single owner, in near mint condition. Bike has barely been used since new. Was dusty from being in a garage for decades, so I tore the bike down to the frame, pulled all components, bottom bracket, headset & cups, everything. Whole bike was meticulously cleaned, then rebuilt, using fresh grease. Original skin wall tires are still supple and not dry rotted! Left them on because I like the way they look, and as a testament to how little this bike has been used overall.
While I had this beautiful machine apart, I decided it was the kind of chassis that deserved better than the squishy stock shifters and OEM flat bar. The geometry of this frame is more square than many hybrid style frames of this era, it more closely measures to a cross bike, proportions of reach and seat tube measurements are closer to a Surly Cross Check, with the reach not being overly long, lending itself nicely to a handlebar conversion. The mustache bar lowers the riding position just a little, and gives you more speed than the stock flat bar.
Components are an excellent mix of Shimano! Indexed, Shimano bar end shifters pair to a Shimano Deore LX components group, including crank, derailleurs, hubs and brakes. Surly didn't make a CrossCheck in the early 90's, but if they did, it would have been equipped with components of this quality, and the overall fit and finish feel would have been very similar to how this bike came out. Bar is a genuine Nitto Japan. Brand new cables and housing used in the build, new pedals and new bar tape!
Fully tuned, %100 ready to ride. Will hang in there with bikes at twice or thrice the price.
