It works with Gen1, Gen2 or Gen3 versions of Cushion Lok hubs.
The cushion lok hub system helps protect your lower unit should you ever hit a solid object with your prop blades. I personally will not run anything other than powertech propellers using the cushion lock hub system, it's just cheap insurance and piece of mind given you never know what's lurking out there.
