You will be expected to understand what needs to happen before the work starts, organize the resources necessary to accomplish it, communicate expectations to the crew, and remain engaged throughout the operation.
Some of Your Responsibilities Include:
Crew Leadership
Lead and coordinate an approximately 8-12person HDD/utility crew.
Assign daily responsibilities and clearly communicate expectations.
Maintain accountability for attendance, conduct, performance, and productivity.
Develop less-experienced employees through hands-on training and coaching.
Create a team environment based on communication, respect, responsibility, and accountability.
Lead by example.
HDD & Field Operations:
Operate and/or supervise HDD equipment and support equipment as required.
Understand drilling operations, locating, tooling, tracking, potholing, utility crossings, pullback, and job-site logistics.
Coordinate laborers, operators, truck drivers, vac trucks, support equipment, and materials.
Maintain awareness of existing utilities and changing field conditions.
Recognize problems early and communicate solutions before they become production delays.
Production Management
Establish daily production objectives.
Monitor crew productivity and available working hours.
Maintain efficient utilization of manpower and equipment.
Coordinate trucking, materials, tooling, equipment, and support resources.
Plan ahead for upcoming work.
Maintain daily and weekly production schedules.
Communicate anticipated delays, equipment issues, or field conflicts immediately.
Help maintain project timelines and production budgets.
Safety & Quality:
Make safety the first priority on every job.
Conduct/participate in daily job-site safety meetings and inspections.
Maintain job-site awareness and enforce safe operating procedures.
Ensure proper PPE and safe work practices.
Monitor excavation, trenching, utility exposure, traffic control, and HDD-specific hazards.
Maintain quality standards and ensure work is performed correctly the first time.
Stop work when conditions are unsafe.
Equipment & Job-Site Accountability
Conduct daily equipment inspections.
Identify mechanical or operational issues early.
Perform basic machine upkeep and ensure equipment is properly maintained.
Maintain clean, organized, and productive job sites.
Protect company equipment, tooling, materials, and vehicles.
Communicate maintenance requirements promptly.
