They are loaded with features. The can act as an Alexa speaker and microphone (or you can turn that off if you don't like it). They integrate with Homekit, Home Assistant, Google Assistant and SmarthThings.
They come with an infrared remote sensor, so that you can monitor multiple locations for occupancy and adjust the temperature for those areas automatically. Cool stuff!
The 5th generation improves on the 4th generation with a higher quality speaker (can stream Spotify), better contrasting screen, and the SmartSensor.
