We’re The Design Company, a local residential design studio (The Design Co.) working throughout Sacramento, Sonoma, Marin Counties. Our work focuses on thoughtful, well-executed new home design and remodels, and we collaborate closely with homeowners and builders to bring projects from concept through permit.
We’re seeking an architect who is open to associating with our firm in an Architect-of-Record capacity (i.e., “hanging” their license with The Design Company) to support our projects.
This would be a collaborative role, ideal for someone who:
• Is newly licensed and does not yet associate license with the company or is looking for a new opportunity
• Is semi-retired or stepping back from full-time work
• Wants to stay involved without managing full projects
• Is comfortable providing oversight and professional sign-off
Scope of Work
• Periodic plan review and code guidance
• Light collaboration during design and plan development
• Availability for questions as projects progress
• Primary role: review and stamp/sign permit drawings (with early visibility and comfort with scope)

• No heavy admin or project management burden
• Clear communication and defined scope for each project
What makes you a great fit
• Hold an active California architect license
• Have significant experience (15+ years) with residential permitting and code
• Newly licensed looking for an established firm to join
• Are comfortable serving as Architect of Record
• Prefer advisory/oversight work vs. day-to-day production
Compensation
Flexible—hourly or per project. Happy to structure it in a way that makes sense for you.
