This is an amazing read, a very convincing portrait through the eyes of the child, in a case of kidnapping, confinement and rape of a college student. Without going off into clinical "speak", the book details all the mental tools used by the mother to survive, and the very believable and finely honed language skills of a boy who grows up together in the same room with his mother 24 hours a day for 5 years, who also needs to survive, just like any child really!
I love this story, because it speaks to me about all the ingenuity that each living thing has in its attempt to survive, and also more specifically how adaptable young children are in any situation if love is flowing over them. So I would also recommend this book to anyone who works closely with the "little people", including of course all parents!
