1993 Ford Explorer manual transmission with extensive recent maintenance. Very reliable, zero leaks, made a trip to Nebraska and back with it! Current odometer is 79,193. Ran a Carfax when I purchased it, but of course the early years don’t have much for records, so it’s possible it’s rolled over.
At 63,000 miles, pulled the engine and replaced the oil pan gasket, timing cover gasket, front and rear main seals, all block and head freeze plugs, head gaskets and bolts, rocker arms, upper and lower manifold gaskets, fuel injector seals, valve cover gaskets, water pump, thermostat, serpentine belt with new pulleys, tensioner, and harmonic balancer. New engine and transmission mounts, new radiator.
Replaced the clutch, slave and master cylinders, input shaft and throwout bearings, and resurfaced the flywheel.
All new A/C system including compressor, condenser, evaporator, dryer, expansion valve, and lines.
Put a 2” lift on it using new spring shackles and an extra leaf in the rear, coil spacers in the front, and new Rancho RS5000X shocks all around. Installed new tie rods and drag link.
At 67,000 miles, replaced the transmission with an overhauled unit from Zumbrota with a 2 year warranty, replaced the power steering pump and hoses, and installed a new alternator. Changed the fluids in the front and rear differentials and the transfer case. Replaced the sunroof with white acrylic when the factory sunroof broke.
At 77,000 miles, replaced the upper and lower ball joints and had it aligned, replaced front brake pads.
