About Us
Gomen (The Japanese Kitchen Lab) is a fast-casual Japanese kitchen in downtown Ridgewood, specializing in premium tendon bowls, ramen, and artisan grab-and-go items. We take pride in quality food, clean presentation, and fast, friendly service.
We are looking for an energetic, versatile, and dependable Shift Leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing both front-of-house hospitality and back-of-house flow.
Key Responsibilities
FOH Operations & Guest Service: Welcome guests, assist with ordering via POS/kiosk, answer menu inquiries, and maintain a warm, organized front counter.
To-Go & Packaging Specialist: Assemble, package, and double-check pickup and delivery orders (Uber Eats, Call in, takeout) with high attention to detail, accuracy, and presentation.
BOH & Prep Support: Float seamlessly between the front counter and kitchen area to assist with basic food prep, restock packaging/ingredients, and support the line during peak rush hours.
Shift Coordination: Keep the flow moving efficiently during rushes, ensure work stations remain clean and sanitized, and help direct and support team members.
Store Upkeep: Ensure food safety, proper labeling, and cleanliness standards are consistently met throughout the front counter and kitchen prep areas.
What We Are Looking For
Multitasker Mindset: Able to transition smoothly between POS/customer service, bagging to-go orders, and supporting the kitchen.
Communication Skills: Professional, friendly English communication skills (comfortable speaking with guests and coordinating with kitchen staff).
Experience: If willing to learn any, no need to any experience.
Reliability & Attitude: Punctual, proactive, organized, and works well under pressure.
Flexibility: Available to work flexible hours, including weekends and dinner shifts.
