LEAP Architecture is seeking a talented and motivated Project Architect / Project Designer with approximately 5–8 years of professional experience to join our growing practice in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
We are looking for someone ready to take meaningful responsibility for projects—working directly with the firm principal while managing projects through design, documentation, consultant coordination, approvals, and construction.
This is not primarily a production position. The right candidate will be a strong designer and technically capable architect who enjoys being involved in the full life of a project and is comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day project responsibilities.
The Role
As a Project Architect / Project Designer, you will work closely with the principal while taking responsibility for the day-to-day development and coordination of projects.
Responsibilities will include:
Managing projects and project components with principal oversight
Developing projects from schematic design through construction documents and construction administration
Preparing and managing architectural drawing sets in Revit
Coordinating structural, MEP, civil, landscape, lighting, and other specialty consultants
Identifying and resolving design and technical coordination issues
Researching applicable building codes, zoning requirements, and permitting issues
Preparing and presenting design information to clients
Participating actively in client meetings
Communicating with contractors and consultants throughout the project
Reviewing shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and construction issues
Visiting job sites and participating in construction administration
Helping establish project schedules, priorities, and deliverables
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate has:
5–8 years of professional architectural experience
A professional degree in architecture
Strong proficiency in Revit
Experience producing and coordinating complete architectural drawing sets
Experience coordinating structural, MEP, and other engineering consultants
The ability to organize and run projects with principal oversight
Strong design sensibility and attention to detail
A working knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and architectural detailing
Confidence communicating ideas clearly to clients, consultants, and contractors
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The ability to balance design quality, technical requirements, schedules, and budgets
Architectural licensure is preferred but not required. Candidates actively pursuing licensure are encouraged to apply.
About LEAP Architecture
LEAP Architecture is a design-focused architectural practice working on thoughtfully designed residential, commercial, and renovation projects in New Jersey, New York, and the surrounding region.
Our size allows team members to be closely involved in projects rather than being limited to a single phase of the architectural process. Project architects participate directly in design decisions, client conversations, consultant coordination, documentation, and construction.
We value good design, clear thinking, technical rigor, collaboration, and architecture that is both beautiful and buildable.
For an architect who has spent the first several years of their career developing strong design and technical skills, this position offers an opportunity to take the next step toward independently leading projects while continuing to work closely with an experienced principal.
Compensation
$88,000–$100,000 annual salary, commensurate with experience, technical ability, and demonstrated project leadership.
Candidates with particularly strong project-management, Revit, construction administration, or technical experience may be considered at the upper end of the range.
