Project car. I purchased this car on Sunday September 27. When i went to look at it, it wasn't running. In fact, putting a battery in it did nothing. No electric whatsoever. Apparently, there was a problem with the solenoid, the coil, and the wiring. The owner told me it does run and he owned it for the past 10 years, but had a problem with the wiring. It has a Mallory ignition and distributor. I purchased the car anyway, and had it towed to my house. The same night, another project opportunity came my way, and I purchased that car as well the next day. That's the ONLY reason I decided to sell this car. I basically had it towed to my house and didn't touch it. On Tuesday 9/29, I went to DMV and registered it so that I'd have paperwork under my name.
I downloaded the wiring diagram for the Mallory ignition, and its now wired properly. It cranks with the key, and its getting the proper voltage and spark. However, the carb is not getting fuel.
If I dump gas down the carb, it starts briefly. I disconnected the fuel line, and no gas is coming up when cranked. I disconnected the gas lines from the fuel pump and blew out the lines in the unlikely event theres a clog, but no change. That's as far as I got, and thats where im leaving it. I reconnected everything. I did pick up a fuel pump for it. Problem is, I don't have time to work on 2 cars at the same time. I paid $1900 for this, and thats what I want back. If it doesn't sell, it will be my next project sometime next year, and it will be stored indoors until then.
What I can tell you is that it's all original. 390 engine. C6 Transmission. Original hubcaps. Michelin tires. The frame is solid with minimal surface rust. The interior is all original and in amazing condition. The original fender skirts are in the trunk. The floors aren't bad .but soft . No holes yet, but will eventually need to be addressed. The battery is brand new. Since my focus shifted, I haven't really looked at this car more then what i mentioned. It has a Mallory ignition, and edelbrock manifold. 94K on the clock. Working sequencing taillights. Black vinyl top with no tears or rips. It has a hitch for trailer. Not sure why. Unfortunately, the window weather stripping is bad, and it was stored outdoors. The interior has a musty smell. I will work on that, and its not stored outdoors anymore. The neutral safety switch needs adjustment or replacement but that's easy and quick.
Car will need to be towed. Currently in Ridge NY.
The original plan was a full restoration, but my focus shifted to a different project.
That's the ONLY reason I decided to switch gears. I have it stored out of the elements, and if it doesn't sell, I'll put some work into it. Not in a hurry to sell it. It can sit where it is for years to come if needed. Eventually if it doesn't sell, I'll get it running. Shouldnt take much as this point. Not taking offers. Not looking to trade anything. Please don't waste my time with 10000 questions. There's enough info in the ad for you to decide if you want to see it. Its not pretty. It needs work. It has issues. .but it's complete. It has potential
