For sale is a beautiful, structurally solid antique flat-top dress/steamer trunk dating back to the late 1890s or early 1900s.
It features deep reddish-brown canvas wrap, classic dark wood reinforcing slats, heavy heavy-duty brass rivets, and protective iron corner bumpers.
What makes this particular trunk incredibly rare is the interior condition.
It still retains its original, removable wooden lift-out tray complete with the secondary covered compartment flap.
The entire interior is still lined in its original, vibrant green and gold patterned lithograph paper which has been exceptionally well-preserved over the last century.
Condition:
Interior: Excellent antique condition. Remarkably clean with minimal wear to the original paper lining.
Exterior:
Strong and structurally sound with a great rustic patina. The wooden slats and bottom runners are intact.
Flaws to note:
The original leather side handles and exterior leather straps are broken/dry-rotted from age.
The metal hardware shows normal surface rust and oxidation.
There is no key included for the center lock.
